Full Job Description

We are welcoming applications from individuals with a suitable science degree as well as those with NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or those with SMT qualification to join our friendly and supportive Radiopharmacy team as a Radiopharmacy Laboratory Technician. You will be supporting our MS licensed Radiopharmacy -- based at QEHB -- to deliver high quality clinical services.

Professional registration is desirable, but the right candidate may apply with the relevant qualification supported by aseptic experience. Prior experience in Radiopharmacy is ideal but full training will be provided. Since this role involves working with ionising radiation, the post-holder will receive full training in all aspects of health and safety associated with this.

The UHB Radiopharmacy is a busy centralised unit which undertakes manufacture and supply of diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals for several Nuclear Medicine departments across the West Midlands. We also have an active Gallium-68 service, as well as involvement in exciting areas such as therapies and clinical trials. This rewarding role offers an exciting opportunity to gain experience across all these fields within a great Radiopharmacy team., To support the work of the Radiopharmacy, performing technical duties to ensure the smooth running of the Radiopharmacy department ensuring supply of radiopharmaceuticals.

-Participate in the aseptic manufacturing and dispensing of diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with procedures and legislation.

-Routine day-to-day duties to support radiopharmaceutical manufacture, including preparation of manufacturing equipment, assembling manufacturing consumables and sundries, stock control, radiation monitoring, quality assurance and the cleaning, maintenance and environmental monitoring of equipment and work areas.

-Responsible for consignment of packages to customers, receipting deliveries and maintaining documentation and records.

-Fulfil other roles such as undertaking quality control testing, checking and maintaining stock levels, ordering stock as appropriate, specialist cleaning and participation in the blood labelling service.

-Maintain documentation system for the facility, equipment and environment, including planning daily service requirements, such as the preparation of production paperwork, and maintenance of the Quality Management System.

-To support the development and training of students, trainees and any junior staff when appropriate.
