Assistant Assurance Officer

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Walsall to assist with the appointment of an Assistant Assurance Officer, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration., The Assistant Assurance Officer role will involve reviewing, redacting and preparing records for quality checking prior to disclosure. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of data protection legislation, particularly in relation to Subject Access Requests and Freedom of Information, and be able to apply appropriate exemptions and redactions.

Responsibilities:

Assist with clearing the backlog of SAR and FOI requests.

Review records and information in response to requests.

Apply appropriate redactions and exemptions in line with data protection and FOI requirements.

Prepare records for quality checking prior to disclosure.

Support the wider team in managing demand for FOI responses.

Manage and respond to FOI requests effectively and within relevant requirements.

Experience working with Subject Access Requests and/or Freedom of Information requests.

Good understanding of data protection requirements relating to SAR and FOI.

Experience applying appropriate exemptions and redactions.

Experience managing and responding to FOI requests is highly desirable.

Experience using Nitro Pro or Copilot would be beneficial.
