Full Job Description

Birmingham City Council are looking for a motivated and proactive individual to join the Accommodation Finding Team. This is an important frontline role where you will support the delivery of housing solutions that enable the Council to meet its statutory homelessness duties and wider housing priorities. You will play a key role in sourcing and securing suitable accommodation across the city, with a focus on developing Private Rented Sector (PRS) opportunities and identifying alternative housing solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-impact service, helping to reduce reliance on temporary accommodation while responding to increasing demand and complex housing needs. You will be part of a forward-thinking service, supporting innovation, improving outcomes, and making a real difference to the lives of citizens. What you will be doing In this role, you will:

  • Support the day-to-day operation of the Accommodation Finding Service
  • Identify and secure suitable accommodation, including Private Rented Sector (PRS) properties and alternative housing solutions
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with landlords, housing providers, and key stakeholders
  • Ensure all accommodation meets statutory requirements and agreed service standards
  • Maintain accurate property records and contribute to property portfolio management and matching processes
  • Support property inspections and ensure compliance with safety and legislative requirements
  • Contribute to marketing and engagement activity to maintain a consistent pipeline of properties
  • Negotiate with landlords and housing providers to secure suitable and sustainable accommodation solutions
  • Use data and market intelligence to identify new housing supply opportunities
  • Support tenancy set-up processes, including agreements, inventories, and incentive schemes
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to improve housing outcomes for customers

  • You will bring:
  • Experience in a sales, marketing, housing, or business development role
  • A proven track record of achieving targets and delivering results in a performance-driven environment
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with landlords and partners
  • Good negotiation and influencing skills to secure accommodation solutions
  • Experience of working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • The ability to analyse information and use data to support service delivery and improvements
  • Knowledge of the Private Rented Sector, homelessness, and relevant housing legislation
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage a varied workload and respond to changing priorities
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality customer service and improving outcomes for residents
