Full Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Lead within our Transport Retail UK division, to drive technical excellence, foster innovation, and guide our distributed teams in aligning technical decisions with business objectives. The role involves overseeing the technical outputs of several teams maintaining our shared back-office systems; with some hands-on engineering, leading by example. Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Check and challenge the technical implementations of the teams; ensuring reliability through code quality, maintainability and observability across development and testing
- Own our application architecture and API standards, ensuring they are adhered to across all projects; and promote our ways of working within the wider business unit
- Align the technical roadmap with business objectives and long-term product vision
- Lead engineering teams, foster collaboration and guide the teams to achieve collective goals; supporting them with complex challenges
- Participate in code reviews, offering constructive feedback and encourage open discussion of different viewpoints
- Lead the technical decision-making and challenge difficult choices to maintain achievable delivery goals
- Track technical debt and plan upgrades to avoid obsolescence
- Collaborate with your leadership colleagues in Programme Management and Solution Architecture to optimise ways of working; advising on technical resource allocation, risk and task prioritization to ensure successful releases
- Line manage our Development Leads to build an inclusive, collaborative and growth-oriented teams; conduct regular performance conversations
- Maintain a robust DevOps approach; regularly evaluate and enhance our engineering processes, tools and ways of working to increase efficiency and cadence
- Represent Transport Retail UK in Worldline's broader technical strategy and actively contribute to engineering community initiatives
- Engage with Worldline security and compliance teams to ensure systems meet security and data protection standards.

- Solid background in building scalable full-stack applications using modern C#.NET
- Proficiency with cloud platforms and cloud-native architecture patterns; ideally certified in AWS or GCP

- Capable of innovative problem-solving which serves customers and their end-users
