Full Job Description

As a Lead IT Service Manager, you are responsible for the technical management of a range of systems and service integrations, necessary to maintain and evolve the CPS Case Management systems, both from an infrastructure and a software development lifecycle point of view. The key challenge will be to evolve our internal capability to create future proofed tools for our users, whilst ensuring the existing operational systems continue to function reliably.
You will ensure the technical integrity of platforms supporting live operations, by overseeing the suppliers who maintain the core platform.
You will be expected to engage with suppliers and internal Solutions teams ensuring there is collaboration in areas such as design, implementation and triage.
The role sits within the CPS User Support function, working closely with Technical Architecture and Service Delivery colleagues, to protect the integrity of the service.
Regular travel to both York and London offices will be required.
The Crown Prosecution Service is based in England and Wales. You must be aged 16 before starting in this role. The start date is expected to be 8-12 weeks after the application deadline.
As part of this role, you are expected to undertake direct line management responsibilities., + You ensure the technical integrity of the CPS infrastructure. You will play a key role in the DID Senior Leadership Team to ensure CPS Infrastructure is up to date, minimising technical debt.
+ You own and manage expenditure on upgrades and submit financial information and reporting on a monthly basis to the Finance Directorate's Financial Accounting Managers.
+ You are responsible for a multi-million pound infrastructure and interfaces and for creating and following a strategy for infrastructure maintenance, with proposals for an annual budget plan. You work with current and potential suppliers, ensuring they are work collaboratively on the key technologies from which the CPS are likely to benefit.
+ You make key prioritisation decisions against the strategic objectives and priorities and make appropriate assessment against requirements to ensure the CPS internal Infrastructure is managed appropriately.
+ You balance priorities across the enterprise, ensuring the platform and tools are secure and future proofed.

You also need to demonstrate the following experience required for this role:
+ experience in either managing Infrastructure lifecycle or software development frameworks.
In addition, you need to demonstrate the Crown Prosecution Service or Civil Service values.
The panel has the right to assess the lead behaviour 'managing a quality service' first. If the standard on this behaviour isn't met, the other behaviours won't be considered and your application won't progress. The panel also has the right to raise the minimum standard pass mark. The panel may also refer to the lead behaviour at the interview stage to determine merit order., It's your responsibility to provide the specified information in the requested format to ensure that you're considered for the post.

Clearance
If successful, you are required to secure a Disclosure and Barring Service check, for which you must have a current valid UK address.

If you're a Crown Prosecution Service member of staff, you won't need to do a Disclosure and Barring Service check as you already hold this clearance.

Reserve list
If you're recommended by the selection panel but not appointed to the current vacancy, you're put on a reserve list for 12 months. You may be offered another Lead IT Service Manager post in CPS - HQ Digital and information directorate if a vacancy comes up during this period. We may also approach candidates on the waiting list to fill other roles that require similar knowledge and experience.
