Full Job Description
The primary role of the Security Architect is to design robust security measures to protect the University's physical and digital assets from increasing cyber threats. The role is fundamental to the University's ability to support the Cyber Security Risk Reduction Programme and the HR and Finance Transformation Programmes. All three are high University priorities. As the lead architect in this area, the post-holder collaborates closely with other IT teams, such as network administrators, software developers, and system engineers, to ensure that security protocols are integrated seamlessly into all aspects of the University's infrastructure and operations. The post-holder will be undertaking detailed research, and recommending to the highest levels of organisation activities and investments which will result in an action plan spanning several years, setting the direction for cyber security investment and defences into the next decade. You'll get the chance to collaborate and interact with some of the finest minds in the world, sharing learnings, insight and expertise to make a meaningful difference to the University's success.
Are you an experienced Security Architect with a passion for creating innovative, secure solutions? Do you excel at aligning cybersecurity strategies with organisational objectives to drive success and modernisation? If so, we invite you to join our team at the University Information Services (UIS) at the University of Cambridge.,
- Strong foundation in information security, with extensive experience in designing, implementing, and managing complex security solutions.
- Proven hands-on experience in roles such as Security Analyst, Security Engineer, or Security Consultant.
- Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, technologies, and best practices.
- Proven track record of leading security initiatives and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to address security challenges across various domains, such as network security, application security, cloud security, and compliance.
- Strong communication and leadership skills are also essential for effectively articulating security requirements, influencing senior stakeholders, and driving security-focused culture within the organisation. This position is a permanent, full-time role, usually based on the University's West Cambridge Site.
- a competitive salary with automatic service-related progression and annual cost-of-living increases
- a generous annual leave allowance of 41 days per year (including bank holidays)
- access to a hybrid pension scheme with attractive employer contributions
- access to a range of shopping and travel discounts through the Cambens scheme. We welcome applications from individuals who wish to be considered for part-time working or other flexible working arrangements.
University Information Services (UIS) provides essential IT services that support both the academic and administrative functions of the University of Cambridge. Our services are integral to the University's success and reputation, touching on key institutional-level risks and objectives. We oversee the development, delivery, and support of a number of University-wide technology and systems, including communications, storage, computing, and enterprise systems for staff and students.
