Full Job Description
Please note: While this role is primarily based at the location outlined in this advert, we also have other nearby services. We're looking for flexible support workers who are open to getting to know a variety of individuals and enjoy bringing their skills and energy to different settings when needed. Who Will You Be Supporting? You'll be working with two lovely ladies in their 40s who have learning disabilities. They are independent in many ways but require support to live their lives to the fullest.
- Nurturing Lady: A loving soul who adores her rabbits and takes great pride in caring for them-feeding, cleaning, and putting them to bed. She loves animals and thrives on responsibility.
- Humorous Lady: Full of laughter and a cheeky sense of humour, she loves to joke around and have a good time. She enjoys light-hearted fun and engaging conversations. Both ladies are eager to explore more of the UK and are planning trips and weekends away. They also need some support with healthy eating-one of them has diabetes and will need guidance around managing her diet. What Will You Be Doing? As a Support Worker, your role will be varied and rewarding. You'll be there to empower the ladies to live independently, providing a range of support that includes:
- Daily Living Support: Assist with meal preparation, medication administration (for one lady), and encouraging healthy eating habits.
- No Personal Care: Personal care is not required, as both ladies are quite independent in this area.
- Activity Engagement: Support their interests-whether it's caring for the rabbits or having a good laugh-and help them plan and enjoy trips around the UK.
- Empowering Independence: Encourage them in their daily routines, helping them stay motivated and active, whether at home or on outings.
- Transportation: Drive them to various activities and outings in your own vehicle. Business insurance is required, but mileage will be reimbursed. Shift Patterns
- Day Shifts: Hours can vary anytime from 7am - 10pm
- Sleep-In Shifts: 10pm - 7am (1-2 sleep-in shifts required per week) Rotas are provided in advance to support a healthy work-life balance but we are seeking individuals who can work flexibly across a rota to ensure a fair split of shifts within the team.,
- Immediate Reviews: Applications are reviewed upon receipt and interviews will continue until positions are filled.
- Equality Commitment: Gender is considered a genuine occupational requirement in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010 where mentioned. In this context, "gender" refers to the sex legally assigned to an individual.
- DBS Disclosure: An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required for this role, the cost of which will be covered by Dimensions.
- Inclusive Workforce: We welcome applications from everyone with the right to work in the UK and value diversity in our workforce.
- Disability Confident: We guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the vacancy.
- BSL Support: British Sign Language (BSL) translated videos are available for all of our recruitment communications.
Award-Winning Workplace: Recognized as one of the UK's best workplaces in the 'super large' category by the Great Place to Work Institute six years in a row. - Generous Leave: 30 days annual leave pro rata with the option to buy and sell leave.
- Career Development: Access paid training and opportunities to further your career through funded accredited courses.
- Well-Being Focus: Benefit from our comprehensive well-being strategy and staff listening network.
- Values-Driven: Join a team that puts people with learning disabilities and their families at the heart of everything we do.
- Referral Bonus: Receive a £200 bonus if you refer a friend and they're successfully employed.
- Additional Perks: Enjoy the Bike to Work scheme and discounts on meals, shopping, entertainment, and gym memberships.
