As our Support Worker, you'll be at the heart of supporting our customers who have complex Mental Health needs to develop their skills to live more independently. You'll make a big difference each day as you help our customers achieve their hopes and aspirations. Amazing we know Typical day as our Support Worker
- Assisting customers with practical, daily living tasks to develop their independence, helping them to achieve the goals, aspirations and outcomes documented in their support plans.
- Working from the accommodation project to support with developing skills around tenancy management, social inclusion, financial wellbeing, physical and mental wellbeing and other daily living activities such as, making meals, shopping, budgeting. The aim is that the customer will move onto independent accommodation if they are able. this is done by developing bespoke support and risk plans with each customer.
- Carrying out risk assessments, support planning, goal setting and regular reviews.
- Cuppas, chats and catch ups. There's no rushing from one customer to the next here! Plenty of time to work together with colleagues too. - Passion to support our customers to live their best life, working together with an eye for detail
- Experience of caring for others, you may have worked in care before or have experience of caring for others such as family members or children
- The ability to work on your own initiative, remain calm under pressure and have a resilient approach
- Recognise every customer is different and you're able to adopt a flexible, personal approach, listening to customers to understand their needs
- To get from A to B, you'll need a vehicle insured for business purposes. The great news is that we'll pay your mileage! We are lucky to be part of the Durham Mental Wellbeing Alliance where we have access to a number of services who can also provide support to our customers if we cannot. We have a mental health practice lead who is there to ensure our staff and customer wellbeing is kept at the forefront of what we do. They can help with bespoke training and learning around mental health or if we need a debrief or support at work
- Occasionally, there may be a requirement for you to work flexible hours to meet the ever-changing needs of our customers. We acknowledge that flexibility is a two-way street, therefore, should you require more flexibility yourself to maintain a good work/life balance, we will endeavour to accommodate your requests.
- You will agree your part time working pattern with your manager which will be during 9-5pm, Monday to Friday.
- Able to use technology to update support plans, complete online learning and to collaborate with colleagues.
