Our Company

Crop Health and Protection (CHAP) Ltd is one of four UK Agri-Tech Centres launched under BEIS supported by Innovate UK in 2015. As a unique, independent nexus between UK government, researchers and industry, CHAP builds innovation networks to identify and accelerate the development of cutting-edge solutions to drive transformative change in sustainable crop productivity. CHAP now require a Research Assistant to support our expert in the CHAP Fine Phenotyping Laboratory.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Innovation Director and a vital member of the team, the role will be using advanced sensors to detect plant traits, disease and mollusc pests. The role will measure and record biological data and plant growth as well as carry out important record keeping, lab maintenance and report writing. Please note other specific responsibilities will evolve as the research outcomes are evaluated but as a critical member of the team, you will have the opportunity to shape this.

The Candidate

The role would suit an experienced Biology / Plant Science graduate with laboratory or glasshouse-based research experience. You would be working directly with our experts in the Fine Phenotyping Laboratory so the candidate will need to be highly motivated, able to work without direct supervision; have excellent communication both written and orally and great IT skills.
