Purchase Ledger Clerk - P&O Ferrymasters, a pan-European leader in tailor-made transport, logistics and supply chain solutions are looking for a Purchase Ledger Clerk to be based in our Ipswich, Suffolk Office.  

 

As a Purchase Ledger Clerk you will be part of a highly dedicated and professional team of Purchase Ledger Clerks and operational supportive departments within the organisation, which is responsible for delivering the highest quality of service to an internationally dedicated client base.  

At P&O Ferrymasters, you would be joining a pan-European leader in tailor-made transport, logistics and supply chain solutions.  Were part of P&O Ferries owned by Dubai World and work across road, rail and sea through our Contract Logistics, Freight Management and Assets divisions.  We operate from more than 20 strategic locations in 13 countries, where 500+ colleagues are united by a passion for customer and service focus.

As Purchase Ledger Clerk you will be responsible for the maintenance of supplier accounts to enable prompt and efficient payment,  other key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring all relevant haulage documentation is received
  • Processing, scanning, validating and retrieving of invoices
  • Inputting of supplier invoices manually as and when required and checking and verification, and where necessary obtaining approval for invoices from relevant divisions prior to making payment
  • Dealing with and resolving supplier queries as and when they arise
  • Checking payment runs for suppliers on the relevant payment dates and ensuring payment terms are adhered to
  • Managing supplier accounts by reconciling with statements
  • Setting up new, or amending, supplier accounts as requested by managers
  • General administration duties including receiving, distributing and actioning post accordingly and Reception and switchboard cover when necessary

 

Skills and Attributes:

  • Significant experience of liaising with providers and vendors of products and services and excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing
  • Experience within a Purchase Ledger department
  • Accurate data input skills
  • Strong organisational skills, with an ability to prioritise
  • Logical mindset, with excellent attention to detail and ability to learn and memorise information
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft computer packages
