Day Centre Support Officer

Grade 5 Starting Salary £24,313 pro rata

Part Time - 20 hours per week (Mon-Fri 4hrs per day)

We are looking for a motivated and organised person with proven skills to plan,
co-ordinate and undertake all administrative tasks to support Day Centre services across the district.  The role will report directly to the Day Centre General Manager supporting them in delivering a cost effective luncheon service and various activities to the over-55s.

The post holder will be responsible for the recruitment of volunteers; developing and co-ordinating rotas to ensure all five centres in the district have adequate volunteer resources as well as maintaining all personal records. They will also have direct responsibility for the co-ordination of all cash management processes within the centres as well as managing all hire bookings and payments in accordance with council procedures.

Acting as one of the key contacts for customers of the Day Centre service, the post holder will co-ordinate the process for collecting customer feedback and ensuring any corrective actions are identified and, where appropriate, implemented in a timely manner. Working in each of the centres they will also undertake all relevant Health and Safety checks, including Fire Safety procedures, and record them in a timely manner.

The successful applicant should have experience of working in a customer focused environment and with volunteers.  You should have good IT skills and ideally have a basic knowledge of health and safety requirements and food hygiene standards although training will be provided. You will be primarily based at our Saffron Walden offices but travel between the centres will be an essential part of the job therefore you will need to have a clean driving license and access to a vehicle.

You will need to have an active and genuine interest in working within a local community providing valuable services which help support people to live independently and reduce levels of social isolation. You will need to be empathetic to the needs of vulnerable people and have excellent customer care qualities.
