Full Job Description
Pastoral Leader
The Pastoral Leader is a non-teaching pastoral role whose job, alongside support from a Senior Leader and a Learning Mentor, to oversee the pastoral care of a Year group. This includes all aspects of their school life: academic, spiritual, moral, physical and social.
Closing Date: 9am on Monday 16th June 2025
Start date: As soon as possible
Salary: NJC SCP26-28 (£32,152.26-£34,225.18 - pay award pending)
Permanent - 37 hours per week, term time plus 10 days (40 weeks)
We are ambitious to build our capacity and strengthen our pastoral support within school. The impact of COVID has been significant on schools and led to students displaying more challenging behaviour. As part of our mission, we seek to ‘walk side by side with our students to help them grow’ and so we are keen that we have the capacity and skilled staff to provide early intervention and support for our young people. A key part of that support we are transitioning towards having Pastoral Leads. These are non-teaching staff, responsible for leading the year group. They will be supported by a Senior Leader and work alongside a learning mentor attached to their year team. In addition, the Pastoral Leader will be able to access support from the Student Support Manager and the suite of support provision within the school. We live out our Lasallian values of respect, faith, compassion, belonging and quality. This means your approaches must always be de-escalatory, aimed at building positive relationships and tackling inappropriate behaviour firmly but fairly; we call it being Lasallian.
Duties and Responsibilities: Under the leadership and Guidance of a Senior Leader:
• Use professional skills and judgement to lead in the development of students within your Year group
• Manage, with the Senior Leader, a team of Tutors
• Work with Curriculum Leaders to motivate staff and learners to continually raise standards of achievement
• Provide appropriate mentorship for identified students
• Attend relevant meetings both in and out of the school, leading where appropriate
• Complete relevant referral forms, ensuring that paperwork is current
• Creation of IBPs and PSPs ensuring follow-up provision with relevant students
• To work with Personal Development Lead in promoting and delivering CEIAG/PSHCE curriculum progression relevant to the appropriate year group.
• Primary Liaison – to work with relevant staff in school and in the primary schools to support student transition and promote links with primary schools
• Any other duties commensurate with the overall role as deemed appropriate by the Senior Leader, in consultation with the Headteacher
