Ruskin Mill Land Trust holds responsibility for land and building assets which it leases to Ruskin Mill Trust. By partnering with Ruskin Mill Trust, we help create lively centres for special needs education, arts and culture, festivals, social enterprise and community. As well as buildings, we help protect the landscape with woodlands, farms, market gardens and a fish farm that is reputed to be the oldest in the country, all looked after through holistic, biodynamic agriculture.

Ruskin Mill Land Trust (The Trust) and Ruskin Mill Trust (RMT) are separate, sister charities drawing their inspiration from common insights - Ruskin, Morris and Steiner. RMT (and its subsidiaries) operates a number of schools, colleges and provisions around the country, utilising practical land and craft activities to support the development of work and life skills in young people with autistic spectrum conditions and other learning differences.

As a key member of the Ruskin Mill Land Trust team, the post holder will be responsible for:

  • The stewardship of the Trust's estates and assets
  • Management and effective utilisation of all of the Trust's property having regards to the environment, aesthetics, financial values, town planning and the appropriate utilisation of the buildings and land.
  • Ensure that its property assets are used and maintained appropriately. The Trust owns a variety of properties throughout the country which include farms and woodland, listed buildings, inner city former industrial properties and a number of houses.
  • Liaise and work closely with the Ruskin Mill Trust professional services such as Trust Head of Property, Trust Biodynamic Land Manager, Architects, Environmental and Energy Manager and Ruskin Mill Land Trust's Legal Team, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director to ensure the development of medium/long term strategic plans for the development and management of the Trust's properties and land.

To undertake this role you should be and have:

  • A Chartered Surveyor or Registered Architect
  • Experience in property and estate management

In return we offer significant personal development opportunities to work within a holistic organisation that is complex and growing on a national scale and the satisfaction of contributing to significantly improving the lives of young people and their families. We offer the opportunity to undertake a Masters level qualification developed by RMT and continually take part in CPD opportunities to develop your practice.

Working at Ruskin Mill Trust is incredibly rewarding; we offer competitive salaries and holiday allowances, an auto-enrolment pension scheme with a salary sacrifice option, a health cash plan and employee assistance programme via Medicash.

In addition, staff receive valuable training opportunities including an in-depth interactive induction to enable our new team members to experience our Practical Skills Therapeutic Education (PSTE) curriculum and also opportunities for further training and academic research including our own MSc in Practical Skills Therapeutic Education.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced Level Disclosure as well as a medical check, references, evidence of qualifications, plus verification of the right to work in the UK.
