About us
The Housing Standards & Assistance team has 2 functions, one of which is to provide grants and loans to vulnerable people, principally through Disabled Facilities Grants, and the other is to enforce housing standards in all housing tenures. This specific post will mainly be involved with Disabled Facilities Grants and will report to the Team Manager Housing Standards.
The role
The role will involve assessing whether the proposed adaptation works are reasonable and practicable, looking at the specific property and the proposed plans and specifications of work. It will involve a mixture of site inspections and desk-based activity, communicating with clients, landlords and the home improvement agency. Checks will need to be made on documents submitted and the level of grant calculated.
What's needed?
The applicant must have an HNC in Construction or similar qualification, or be a qualified Environmental Health Officer and be used to inspecting properties and examining plans and specifications. Excellent communication skills are required.

As well as a competitive salary, working for us means you get:
- 26 days annual holiday - raising to 31 after 5 years of service (pro-rata)
- Access to our attractive and competitive benefits package
- Access to our Health & Wellbeing Programme
- Flexible working
- Uniform/safety equipment
Key Dates & Further Information
