Full Job Description
Avensis Support Limited provides supported accommodation to vulnerable young people aged 16-18, including unaccompanied asylum-seeking children. We pride ourselves on maintaining high-quality, safe, and well-managed living environments across our portfolio of properties. We are seeking a skilled and proactive Estates Officer to oversee and maintain the physical integrity of our properties. This is a flexible, hands-on role ideal for a competent multi-trade individual who is self-motivated, organised, and safety-conscious.,
- Maintenance & Repairs o Conduct routine and reactive domestic maintenance including basic plumbing, fixture repair, and DIY tasks. o Confident use of power tools to carry out minor works and repairs. o Prepare and follow your own Schedule of Works to ensure timely and efficient property upkeep.
- Health & Safety Oversight o Conduct regular Health & Safety inspections across all homes to proactively identify and report risks. o Perform and record fire alarm, smoke detector, and emergency lighting checks. o Lead and record fire drills in coordination with support staff and young people. o Ensure awareness and tracking of compliance certifications (e.g., gas safety, EICR, PAT testing, etc.).
- Procurement & Supplier Liaison o Source, maintain, and update a reliable network of professional tradespeople. o Negotiate quotes and costs of specialist jobs, achieving best value for the company. o Raise and manage external Work Orders via our estates software (training provided).
- Administrative & Reporting Duties o Update the company's estates management software with works completed, job statuses, and schedules. o Maintain accurate records of property issues, expenses, fire drills, and H&S documentation. o Provide monthly expense logs and job completion reports. o Attend internal planning and progress meetings with the Director and relevant teams. o Be confident in speaking to different utility providers on behalf of the company to resolve billing issues and contracts.
- Emergency Response o Be available to respond to out-of-hours maintenance emergencies, where possible.
- Team Collaboration o Liaise effectively with Support Workers, Managers, and external contractors. o While largely working independently, maintain good communication with the wider team.,
- This role is on an hourly paid basis, with flexible hours
- Freedom to manage your own workload and attend sites as needed
- All necessary training on company systems will be provided
- Fuel costs will be reimbursed per business mileage
Essential: - Own vehicle and valid driving licence (mileage reimbursed)
- Strong practical skills in general maintenance, minor plumbing, and use of power tools
- Experience sourcing tradespeople and managing external works
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage time, work autonomously, and maintain accurate records
- Competence in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and use of basic digital systems
- Strong attention to detail, especially in health and safety matters Desirable:
- Formal qualification in Health & Safety (e.g., Level 2/3), First Aid, or Fire Safety
- Previous experience using estates or facilities management software
- Experience working in supported housing, social care, or regulated environments
