Lloyd's of London has long been synonymous with being the centre of global marine expertise. Its impact on the world stage is both profound and far-reaching. The Lloyd's Market Association (LMA) has an unrivalled opportunity to work in the epicentre of the Lloyd's market, bringing expertise together to help address some of the biggest issues facing the marine sector. Marine insurance is a critical component of the global trade ecosystem. The marine sector, responsible for transporting 80% of the world's trade, is facing a transformative period. The global conversations are as diverse as alternative fuels, autonomous vessels and the impact of geopolitics on trade routes. In recent times, the LMA has supported the Lloyd's and London markets as they responded to the war in Ukraine. For example, the LMA liaised with the UN, UK, US and EU government entities in conjunction with Lloyd's in order to assimilate the detail of the sanctions and to facilitate the operation of the UN grain corridor. The LMA looks at a wide range of issues including sustainability and how it relates to environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) initiatives. The International Maritime Organisation (IMO) aims for the international shipping industry to reach net zero by around 2050, which means reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by at least 20% by 2030 and at least 70% by 2040. Hosting market events to raise awareness on these issues is one of the many areas you could be involved in. Much of the critical work which happens in the LMA is through the committee network and market outreach. This role would be largely responsible for the inputs and outputs of these groups, bringing your expertise to bear. Introduction to the Lloyd's Market Association (LMA) The Lloyd's Market Association (LMA) exists at the very heart of Lloyd's, a world-leading global marketplace for complex risk where solutions to challenges are delivered every day. All 55 Lloyd's managing agencies, with a total market stamp capacity of approximately £52.6bn in 2024, and all Lloyd's members' agents, are members of the LMA. We represent our members' interests to organisations including governments, regulators, and the market's central supporting body, the Corporation of Lloyd's. We provide professional and technical expertise in areas ranging from model policy wordings to the implementation of innovative technologies. We connect with our members to identify and resolve issues facing the market, and work in partnership with Lloyd's and the other market associations to influence initiatives and outcomes. We operate the Lloyd's market's most comprehensive technical education service, the LMA Academy., The LMA firmly believes that robust values at the heart of the organisation bolster its performance and enable the successful execution of strategy. We have five primary values that we strive to embody across the business in everyday practice. These are
