Full Job Description
Sizewell C is at the forefront of the UK's nuclear energy future, offering a unique opportunity to be part of a landmark project that will provide sustainable, low-carbon energy for generations to come. As a Project Manager at Sizewell C, you will be part of a dynamic and innovative team, working on one of the most significant infrastructure projects in the country. Our commitment to excellence, safety, and environmental responsibility ensures a rewarding and impactful career. Why Join as a Project Manager within the Civil Works Programme? The Civil Works Programme at Sizewell C encompasses a diverse range of projects, from enabling and earthworks to tunnelling and marine construction. As a Project Manager, you will have the opportunity to lead and influence the delivery of critical infrastructure, including sea defences, access facilities, and the construction of over 70 large buildings for the nuclear plant. This role offers a unique blend of technical challenge and strategic oversight, making it an ideal position for those looking to make a significant impact in the field of civil engineering. About the Role: Are you an experienced Project Manager with a passion for civil engineering and large-scale infrastructure projects? Join the Sizewell C Project as a Project Manager within our Civil Works Programme. You will play a pivotal role in driving the delivery of engineering work by the Civil Works Alliance (CWA) and managing key contracts to ensure the successful construction of the Sizewell C nuclear power plant. What will you be doing as a Project Manager within Civils?
- Oversee the delivery of engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning activities.
- Collaborate with the SZC supply chain team, Responsible Designer (RD), quality team, and suppliers.
- Develop strategies for delivering scope up to £50m, ensuring cost, schedule, and quality targets are met.
- Manage internal and external interfaces to ensure a coordinated approach to design and delivery.
- Prepare and manage contracts, including terms & conditions, contractual appendices, and technical specifications.
- Implement site-specific design changes and drive the replication of Hinkley Point C (HPC) design elements.
- Ensure lessons learned and knowledge capture are integral to project execution.
Degree and Chartered status in Project Management, Construction, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline. - Demonstrated experience managing major projects from concept to handover.
- Strong knowledge of project management principles and construction activities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience in the nuclear industry and formal project management qualifications are desirable.
It's not every day you get the opportunity to shape the working culture of what will be one of Europe's largest construction projects, while also helping Britain to reach its target of Net Zero emissions by 2050. That's one of the reasons Sizewell C will be unlike anything you've ever experienced before, and you'll need to be an exceptional professional to reach the high standards this critical infrastructure project demands. The UK is experiencing a nuclear renaissance and Sizewell C - along with its sister project at Hinkley Point C in Somerset - is powering the change. We're ramping up at pace as we look ahead to the Financial Investment Decision in early 2025, and the start of construction soon after. With government fully on board and public opinion shifting significantly in favour of nuclear, there's never been a better time to join our project. By submitting an application to this role, you acknowledge that you have read and understood Sizewell C's employee and EDF's employee . Just to let you know, EDF will be processing and sharing information about your application on behalf of Sizewell C.
