Full Job Description
The role is permanent, full-time and is based at County Hall, Morpeth. As Capital Project Manager you will support the Capital Programme Manager and lead on all aspects of project development and delivery across a very wide variety of capital projects.,
- Manage a team of capital support/administration staff and external Technical Advisors and Contractors with responsibility for project budgets up to a maximum of £10m.
- Act as Client Lead on a variety of capital projects for Northumberland County Council.
- Adopt strict project management controls: budget tracking, contract management, solution focused risk and issues management. Project timelines, key milestones and critical path, project delivery team co-ordination, communications strategies, forward plans and project highlight reports.
- Meet and effectively engage with key stakeholders and produce detailed client briefs including any specific site requirements; end user needs; grant terms and conditions; confirming amount of budget available.
- Oversee capital projects to time, budget and brief from pre-feasibility to completion.
- Support feasibility studies to inform the future capital programme.
- Sign off projects for construction, i.e. - ensuring the cost packs are agreed before construction commences on site.
- Produce a variety of reports and information based upon operational or research data for performance management purposes.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Capital Project Manager within the Education and Skills Service., A relevant degree and, ideally, a relevant professional qualification. - A project management or other relevant vocational qualification.
- Experience of capital project delivery.
- The ability to offer 'intelligent client' project management expertise whilst applying knowledge of the development cycle through RIBA Plan of Works.
- Have significant experience of partnership working and engaging with a broad range of stakeholders and the ability to communicate effectively - both in writing and verbally.
- Evidence of successful delivery in a role at a similar level.
- Valid UK driving licence.
