Job Title: Commissioning and Contracts Officer (Transport)
Are you ready for a new challenge in transport services?
We are looking for a dedicated and driven individual to join our brand-new team at Derbyshire County Council as a Commissioning and Contracts Officer. If you are passionate about improving public services and have experience in managing contracts, we want to hear from you!
Role Overview:
As a Commissioning and Contracts Officer, you will play a key role in the reviewing, commissioning, and management of passenger transport services. You will work closely with internal teams, external service providers, and stakeholders to ensure that all services meet the required standards and performance goals., + Carry out regular compliance audits and spot checks on transport operators across SEND, Adult Social Care, and school transport contracts
+ Ensure compliance with legal and procurement standards, including the use of the Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS).
+ Monitor contract performance, quality standards, and supplier compliance through regular site audits, reports, and reviews.
+ Liaise with internal departments including Procurement, Legal and Transport teams
+ Manage complaints related to transport services, ensuring timely and effective resolutions., This role currently offers hybrid working options which will be to subject service needs, there'll be an opportunity to discuss working arrangements for this position at interview.
We are seeking candidates with a background in transport compliance, commissioning, contract management or service delivery-particularly within the bus or taxi sectors.
Experience or knowledge of bus operations (including school and public bus services) will be an advantage.
You should be confident working independently and as part of a team, with excellent organisational, analytical and communication skills.
