This post is based at Lister Hospital in Stevenage, is full time and the post holder will be expected to participate on the 1:8 on call rota. This is an excellent opportunity within the Anaesthetics department at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The on-call rota will be a 1 in 8 full shift rota. Opportunities will be available for the appointee to develop their skills in all areas of Anaesthetics. Clinical duties include provision of anaesthetic services for all specialties at Trust sites as well as out of hours cover for theatres, ICU and pain services. It is envisaged that there will be an approximately 4:1 split between clinical and educational duties (i.e. 80% of day time with anaesthesia department, and 20% with education department). However, it is expected that the appointee will cover 100% of the 'on call' commitments., o The day-time clinical hours will likely to be spent with the direct supervision of senior anaesthetists in the theatre settings for the running of regular theatre operation lists.o The post holder will have the opportunities to attend departmental FRCA teaching programme, as well as other departmental activities including Clinical Governance Rolling Half Days, Journal Clubs and other teaching ad-hoc activities.o The post holder will have the opportunities to lead on an audit/research project during the year. This can be of their choosing or the department can supply ideas. It is envisaged this will be presented at a conference.
o There will be opportunities for the post holder to gain further experience in the delivery of simulation training within the trust, under the guidance of the trust lead for clinical simulation, Dr Ewe Teh. o The post holder will also be encouraged to pursue other teaching activities depending on the interests/educational requirements of the post holder. o This will include training in debriefing, designing and delivering of scenarios and the technical aspects of running a simulation mannequin. o This will include being faculty on courses already running. o This may include setting up new courses depending on the ideas and requirements of the post holder.
