Full Job Description
Developing your clinical and interdisciplinary team working skills and support your career development. We have exciting Band 6 / Band 5-6 progression rotation to support your learning in a variety of clinical areas including Paediatrics, Macmillan, HCOP, Medicals, ED, Short Stay Therapy, Solihull IMC, T&O and Respiratory. alongside a new Initiative role The Home first rotation is new OT rotation to enable a Band 5 Occupational therapist to establish skills in functional assessments and clinical decision making to support discharge planning and the Home first strategy.
Ideal if you are an experienced Band 5 or a Band 6 looking for new opportunities, alternatively we welcome those wishing to consider our innovative Band 5-6 progression post were you will have a support and training to develop to a Band 6. Are you dynamic, innovative and highly motivated HCPC registered Occupational Therapist with experience in a broad range of therapy teams/clinical areas. You will be an excellent team worker with knowledge across a range of occupational therapy disciplines. Alternatively this experience could be invaluable for your career progression to Band 7 roles. You will be working within a friendly supportive environment where we are committed to continued professional and career development of all staff Main duties of the job To provide therapeutic assessment, management and treatment of patients in a variety of specialties within the Acute hospital and community setting; Focusing interventions to a wide variety of clinical cases, applying Occupational Therapy knowledge and the OT process. There will be a strong focus on facilitating discharges home, or to other care pathways and supporting patients in the outpatient community setting. You should possess excellent communication, prioritisation and organisational skills; and have experience in working in a multidisciplinary team. Undertaking all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and maintain associated records. Furthermore assisting with supervision, education and co-ordination of generic Therapy Support Workers and Junior therapists. You should be willing to participate in seven day working. In return you will gain excellent clinical and leadership experience. You will also develop organisational skills and service development experience.,
- Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy
- Registered with HPC
- Evidence of CPD including recent post graduate
- training relevant to clinical speciality
- Evidence of leadership training
- Good standard of general education including GCSE
- English and maths grade C or above
- A Levels or equivalent qualification Desirable
- Fieldwork Educator's certificate or attendance at Clinical Educators Course, Demonstrates clinical experience enabling the post holder to manage a caseload of patients with complex needs in this speciality. This would usually be approximately 12 months and will include experience in discharge planning.
- Team/service development
- A specialist knowledge across a range of OT treatments, routine and non-routine, requiring expertise within the field of occupational therapy
- An ability to cope with a range of complex options, finds solutions, analyse, compare and decide on appropriate course of action.
- Understanding of current legislation and application to OT Desirable
- Experience of supporting students and more junior therapy staff
- An understanding of discharge routes in the community Additional Criteria Essential
- An ability to cope with moving/manoeuvring patients/equipment on a daily basis
- An ability to frequently concentrate on patient assessments and treatments
- An ability to cope with occasional exposure to distressing/emotional situations
- Demonstrate an interest in developing expertise within the relevant team
- Able to contribute to weekend service
- Ability to work varied shift patterns commensurate to service area Desirable
- Desirable Able to drive with maximum 3 points on driving licence Person Specification Qualifications Essential
