Hybrid working, mostly remote. You will need to attend Bridgwater in Somerset, once or twice a month for meetings. Are you an experienced product copywriter with expertise in SEO and a keen eye for detail? Toolstation is looking for a Product Content Writer to join our Customer Team and play a key role in optimising our online product descriptions and transactional content. We're on a journey of digital transformation to become a truly disruptive, omni-channel retailer, offering the most compelling proposition and the most convenient ways for our customers to shop. As a Product Content Writer, you will be responsible for continuously improving our digital content to enhance search engine visibility and empower customers with clear, informative product details. You'll work closely with various teams to ensure new products are launched efficiently and existing content is consistently optimised. Specifically, you will:

  • Create SEO-optimised category and facet content to support strategic 'category overhauls'.
  • Ensure all product content clearly communicates features, advantages, and benefits.
  • Collaborate with product data, merchandising, and commercial teams for timely SKU launches.
  • Identify opportunities for new categories based on new product introductions (NPI) and optimise new landing pages.
  • Actively participate in NPI process improvement sessions.
  • Work with the SEO Lead and agency partners to identify and act on optimisation opportunities across various page types (Departments, PLPs, Facets, Brand pages).
  • Methodically optimise Product Detail Pages (PDPs), including titles, descriptions, and metadata.
  • Identify content opportunities to differentiate Toolstation from competitors.
  • Champion the brand tone of voice for digital.
  • Analyse and report on performance metrics pre and post optimisation.

Experienced copywriter/proof-reader with keyword research and SEO experience
  • High attention to detail and highly analytical. You're able to analyse and interpret data to create the right content
  • Experienced user of PIM and/or CMS systems.
  • Advanced experience with SEO tools such as Google Analytics, Ahrefs, Similarweb, Semrush or similar.
  • Advanced excel, google sheets and/or smartsheets user
  • Teamwork and collaboration. You understand the importance of cross functional and team collaboration and look for ways in which to support others.
  • Resilience and a strong work ethic. In Toolstation, we get a lot done. That means you won't always stay in your lane. There will be times where you might be stretched to take on extra responsibilities. You'll relish this opportunity to expand your skills and develop your potential.

This is a brilliant opportunity to push to the next level in your career with Toolstation and help shape the future of our digital customer experience.
  • Toolstation. The story so far. We're one of Britain's fastest growing multi-channel retailers of tools, accessories and building supplies. Backed by Travis Perkins plc, our freedom to operate as a nimble, entrepreneurial business means we're now well established and have even bigger plans. The trade, home improvers and self-builders all trust us to deliver a lot more than tools and in our network of almost 600 branches and distribution centres throughout the UK, we all work together to get the job done. And with plans to open many more branches this year, we always have opportunities for great retail professionals who want to grow with us. Caught your interest? Want to know more?
