To be our User Experience Specialist, you'll need significant and recent experience of user centric design with the majority in industry / agency rather than academia, with a portfolio of case studies demonstrating the design of great user experiences for products and services working with large and complex organisations, communicating across all relevant levels and ensuring all primary stakeholders are aware of the benefits of UX. We look for:
  • Proven experience with a variety of qualitative and quantitative user research methods (e.g. usability testing, ethnographic research, participatory design, co-creation, field testing etc)
  • Experience creating prototypes using tools such as Figma, Axure etc
  • Experience with a variety of design tools such as personas, customer journey maps, user flows, wireframes, prototypes
  • Experience in service design methodologies would be desirable
  • Experience in delivery of an ERP or a commercial off the shelf system via a UCD approach would be beneficial
  • This role would be suitable for someone who is user focused and is flexible enough to work solo or as part of a team. Is skilled at getting people to 'open-up' and has great listening, analysis and problem-solving skills. Enjoys researching and presenting findings and concepts, is keen to continually develop their UX skills and is proactive in sharing new skills and findings with the wider team.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the RNLI's Digital team as a User Experience Specialist on a temporary contract of up to 12 months. As part of a dynamic team, you'll help to create user focused and evidence based digital experiences across multiple channels that delight users and exceed business objectives.

  • Salary: £41,242 to £48,520 (dependent on experience)
  • 26 days' annual leave plus Bank Holidays
  • Outstanding pension scheme (contributions of up to 16% of basic salary)
