This role sits within the Commercial, Vaccines and Countermeasures Delivery (CVCD) Directorate. Truly dynamic, our teams operate at significant pace in a commercially complex environment. UKHSA's Commercial teams continue to play a central role in priority activity, supporting the response to health threats such as Mpox (Monkeypox) and Strep A as they occur, and ensuring a resilient infrastructure to secure the UK in the strongest position to protect the public from future threats to health.
The Business Development team supports achievement of UKHSA's goals by helping win external funding for research, and commercialising services created through the agency's wide-ranging scientific and public health expertise. In particular, the department manages and exploits the agency's strong Intellectual Property portfolio, realising a significant financial return on the investment of public funds to generate high quality public health interventions and assets, and reducing the cost to the government of cutting-edge public health capabilities., Business Development must constantly adapt to meet the changing needs of the organisation and continually seeks to strengthen its skills base in the spectrum of capabilities represented by UKHSA. The team aligns with Department of Health and Social Care and HM Treasury's commercial policies related to managing public money and Knowledge Asset management, thus ensuring the organisation meets its obligations under the current legislation and case law. The team also coordinates the response to external audits and enquiries related to income generation, fulfilling statutory requirements such as freedom of information requests.
The Marketing Production Manager is an experienced, competent designer who can develop designs and marketing materials to support the Business Development team, promoting UKHSA's products and services to the research and commercial markets. This includes the development of advertising and promotional campaigns to promote new and existing products and services.
The role undertakes all aspects of the development, design and delivery of a wide variety of new visual digital and print materials for customers across the UKHSA organisation, to support engagement, planning, advertising, event organisation, product and service development and research. UKHSA also participates in many national and international events and exhibition materials and associated collateral needs to be designed and produced.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
+ Have regular contact with internal and external stakeholders, often with the need to engage with them over sensitive, complex, contentious, and confidential issues.
+ Participate in relevant internal and external working groups/projects, services, and initiatives to provide project information and analytical advice and expertise.
+ Present project information and issues, explaining complexities, to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
+ Liaise with other UKHSA Managers to share best practice and achieve collaboration that contributes to UKHSA's mission.
Key duties will include, but are not limited to:
+ Design, print, basic copywriting, editing and event coordination support
+ Managing the production of a wide range of bespoke print and digital marketing materials, including leaflets, brochures, ads, banners, guides, logos, e-learning graphics, animations, digital visual content (for web and social media), posters, flyers, newsletters, e-newsletters, illustrations.
+ Conceptualising, designing and artwork delivery of bespoke marcoms collateral using Adobe Creative Suite (including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, or similar software package) and Microsoft Office Suite.
+ Interpreting data and information to create unique infographics and visualisations which communicate knowledge quickly, simply and effectively to engage target audiences.
+ Supporting event management and coordination including conferences, seminars, receptions and exhibitions.
+ Copy writing, editing and sub-editing including implementing editorial changes from the marketing manager and stakeholders as required and providing proofing.
+ Determining new design solutions for complex and challenging design briefs including making decisions on appropriate format, imagery, layout and typography, based on stakeholder requirements, user/market research, including competitor activity, and campaign evaluation as required.
+ Developing and testing design templates, enabling flexibility and continuity of themes and visual solutions across product lines.
+ Evaluating, updating and improving existing designs and products as required, including archiving / retrieval.
+ Ensuring design work aligns to the UKHSA brand identity, editorial guidance and wider GOV.UK requirements where applicable.
+ Liaising with printers and designers, organising photo shoots and sourcing imagery.
+ Marketing and marcom planning, coordination, collaboration and administration
+ Contributing to, and developing, marketing and marketing communication plans and strategies.
+ Liaising and networking with a range of stakeholders including customers, colleagues, suppliers, and partner organisations.
+ Collaborating, managing customer relationships and communicating with target audiences to ensure marketing products meet key stakeholder, user and UKHSA objectives.
+ Managing task workflow, working at pace on multiple projects.
+ Sharing knowledge and practice guidance, advising UKHSA colleagues on brand, accessibility, publishing, production and proofing process, image use and digital technology as required.
+ Arranging the effective distribution of marketing materials, electronically or in print.
+ Keeping up to date with design and technology developments and applying government advances and requirements, such as accessibility and digital communication. Undertaking training where available.
+ Supporting the Business Development and Marketing Manager, Senior Business Development Managers and other colleagues as required., This vacancy is using Success Profiles and will assess your Behaviours, Technical skills, Ability and Experience.

Location
This role is being offered as office/lab based at our Scientific Campus in Porton Down. Please note hybrid working is not available for this role (there may be an opportunity to work 1-2 days from home on a non-contractual basis, which will be discussed with the successful candidate).
Security Clearance Level Requirement
Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is Counter-terrorist Check. If based at one of our scientific campuses, you will be required to have a Counter Terrorism Check security vetting check as a minimum. For meaningful National Security Vetting checks to be carried out individuals need to have lived in the UK for a sufficient period of time. You should normally have been resident in the United Kingdom for the last 3 years as the role requires Counter Terrorism Check (CTC) clearance.
