You'll be an experienced digital journalist who knows what online audiences expect and can turn around copy under tight deadlines. This job requires someone with a strong news sense that thrives on producing original journalism that can get to the heart of Manchester's diverse communities with a focus on working families and underserved audiences. The role involves shift work including late, early and weekend working.WHY JOIN THE TEAM You will cover a full range of news stories from across Greater Manchester with a keen focus on finding content that can work across our platforms, including online, social media and radio. You will be responsible for researching and writing news articles and headlines, sourcing pictures and dealing with breaking news. You will get behind the headlines, explaining issues and producing features to engage and inform our audiences.YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
- Report quickly and accurately the news stories of the day - from breaking news to social issues.
- Produce original journalism by using a wide range of contacts and sources and identify innovative story ideas and treatments for an online audience.
- Report on news stories in the field and from the office, conduct interviews, attend media conferences, live events and report from court.
- Work as an integral part of the BBC Manchester news team, working alongside producers, correspondents and reporters, as well as the wider BBC.
