Build a Rewarding Career. Doing things differently. Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Fine Art £38,394 - £56,292 pa pro rata

About the Role

This a great opportunity to join the Fine Art course at Nottingham School of Art & Design. The recent revalidation of the course which starts in 2026 provides exciting opportunities to establish yourself within the new curriculum which has a focus on engaging with both analogue techniques and digital technologies to expand the students practice. The recent opening of the new Design & Digital Arts building provides the course with a range of new technologies and spaces to explore as well as the workshop and studio facilities accessible to our students which are rich and varied. Employability opportunities in the sector and beyond are embedded in the course curriculum and experiences within Nottingham's rich arts offer are an important part of the student experience. We have partnered with a number of the galleries in the city to provide unique opportunities for our students to engage first hand with the sector.

We are looking for someone who has a strong understanding of contemporary art practice within a broad based context, ideally with specialist interest in the intersections between material practices and new technologies. You will have links with the wider art market and its related industries within professional or commercial contexts, either as a practitioner, an artist or curator and will have had some experience of working within HE. You will also have a good understanding of how audiences engage with art in a variety of in person contexts, and online platforms. You will have an excellent understanding of the subject area as well as knowledge of contextual research and current professional practice within the contemporary art field.

The subject area benefits from an excellent reputation and recruits high calibre students with strong creative and academic abilities and the course is designed to develop these talents to ensure that our graduates leave us with unique combinations of knowledge, skills and attributes that are aligned to the contemporary art world now and in the future. For more details, please take a look at the role profile. We'll still consider applications even if you don't meet every single one of the requirements, so don't be put off if you don't match them perfectly. Interviews w/c 4th August.
