Full Job Description

You will work closely with the PFST Programme team, colleagues in the People and Finance Divisions, and the University's communications networks to coordinate and deliver high-quality content across a range of internal channels, manage feedback, and assess communications effectiveness. Your work will help ensure that staff understand the purpose of the programme, feel equipped to engage with change and are kept informed of progress and milestones throughout the implementation journey. Key responsibilities

  • Developing and delivering communications plans that support workstream-level and programme-wide engagement objectives, tailored to diverse internal audiences.
  • Creating high-quality written content, including newsletters, staff briefings, blog posts, FAQs, slide decks, and reports, translating complex information into accessible, engaging language.
  • Maintaining and updating the programme's online presence, including intranet pages and SharePoint resources.
  • Plan and organise events as part of the communications strategy such as briefings, workshops and other engagement events, ensuring consistent messaging and smooth logistics.
  • Select and implement appropriate methods for evaluating communications activities, helping to assess effectiveness and inform future communications.
  • Oversee the production of promotional materials for programme campaigns and events, including dedicated websites, brochures, leaflets and posters.
  • Identify and engage with a range of stakeholders and audiences, providing timely and relevant information to them as appropriate.
  • Deliver tailored briefing documents for divisional and departmental cascade as necessary
  • Manage feedback and input as a result of communications activities, routing queries appropriately and updating materials as necessary
  • Monitor effectiveness of communications through relevant measures and action as needed
  • Ensure that communications follow the University guidelines on branding, and encourage others to use them.
  • Support broader People and Finance communications activities, where capacity allows.
  • Be an active member of the University's Communication Officers network and/or other relevant networks/groups in order to share information, promote best practice and ensure cross-University communications are coordinated.

    Essential
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience.
  • Extensive communications experience working with digital channels, including web content.
  • Excellent writing skills and attention to detail, with a proven ability to communicate complex concepts to a non-specialist audience.
  • Understanding of how to develop and shape persona led communication collateral
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including diplomacy and the ability to inspire the confidence of senior colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently in a complex environment, taking initiative when necessary and prioritising effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Resilient, adaptable, and capable of working under pressure in a dynamic programme environment.
  • Desirable
  • Professional qualification in public relations or marketing
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Experience supporting communications in change programmes or system implementations (e.g. ERP)
  • Experience of developing and managing communications plans across multiple projects
  • Experience working with, understanding and consulting different stakeholder groups during communication activities
