Full Job Description
North Tyneside Community Hubs and Libraries have exciting opportunities for 4 temporary Community Hubs and Libraries Assistants to help deliver services in line with key Council priorities of the Connecting Communities strategy, for a period of approximately 8 weeks during the summer. You will be the first point of contact for customers, providing a high level of customer care for residents and visitors of all ages. You will be welcoming and approachable, providing information, signposting and advice and connecting people to other local authority, community, health and partner services. Your communication skills will be excellent, and you will be a positive, proactive member of the team. You will be confident in using ICT for email, producing documents, answering enquiries, and giving basic support to customers. You will have some experience of customer service as an employee or volunteer. Other key responsibilities within the role will include:
- To help deliver a full range of library services to adults and children, assist in planning, promotion and delivery of hub activities and outreach, such as delivering user education, reading groups or rhyme times
- Support customers to use technology and develop digital skills, confidence and knowledge.
- Work effectively as part of the hub team, contributing to safe opening and closing of buildings, cash handling and room set ups.
The roles are temporary, for a period of approximately 8 weeks between July and September. Posts are based at North Shields, Whitley Bay, Wallsend and White Swan Centre, Killingworth but you may need to work at any site across North Tyneside and there is a requirement to work Saturdays on a rota.
