Full Job Description

The FA are excited to be recruiting for a Women's National Teams Coach Developer, who will play a critical role in supporting and advancing the quality of coaching within the women's professional game, with a specific focus on identifying and developing elite coaching talent capable of leading national teams in the future.
This role will work directly with England pathway coaches and identified coaches in the wider domestic game to ensure the next generation of coaching talent is equipped to thrive in international football and high-performance environments. Central to this role is the vision of preparing future England Head Coaches through bespoke development, rigorous tracking, and deep collaboration with the game's key stakeholders. The role will collaborate closely with the FA Women's Technical Director and Head of Women's Youth Development.
What will you be doing?
Work directly with coaches within the England pathway and identify elite coaches within the Women's Super League (WSL) to support their ongoing development through tailored development plans, including observations and mentorship.
Mentor identified elite coaching candidates with potential to progress to senior national team roles, including the England Head Coach role.
Lead the design and delivery of personalised development programmes for England pathway coaches (WU15-WU23), supporting them in areas such as leadership, tactical innovation, communication, and high-performance development.
Use data and video to support coach reflection and connect coach behaviour with team and player outcomes.
Deliver impactful learning opportunities, including immersive placements, peer learning forums, international study visits, and cross-sport collaborations.
Identify and actively track high-potential coaching talent within the women's game, ensuring a pipeline of capable future England national team coaches.
Build close working relationships with WSL and Championship club staff to share insight, coordinate support, and co-develop promising coaches.
Establish robust mechanisms for tracking coach development over time, including the use of observation tools, performance reviews, and coach self-reflection.
Provide specific support to coaches transitioning between club and international football, helping them adapt to the unique demands of tournament cycles, short preparation windows, and national team cultures.
Work closely with the Women's Coach Development team and FA Technical staff to align coach development with long-term strategic goals for England teams.
Promote inclusion by identifying and supporting diverse coaching talent across all levels of the women's game.
Collaborate with the Senior Lead Qualifications & Standards to ensure formal qualifications meet the evolving demands of elite women's football.
Regularly report on coach progress and development activity, including succession planning for national teams.
Act as a thought leader in elite coach development within the women's game, contributing to research, insight, and innovation.
Executes additional tasks as required to meet the FA's changing priorities.
Comply with all company policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of health, safety, and wellbeing can be maintained.
As part of the FA's commitment to ensuring a safe environment for everyone in football, every employee will be required to complete a DBS check. The level of the check required will be based on the activity of the specific job role and in line with legislation and government guidance.

UEFA A or Pro License.
First-hand experience working within elite football environments (senior first team or national team level).
Proven ability to develop coaches through observation, feedback, mentorship, and co-delivery.
Strong understanding of high-performance coaching practice and its day-to-day realities.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect meaningfully with coaches and build trust quickly.
Skilled in video and data analysis, with the ability to use performance insights to inform coach development.
Deep understanding of adult learning and coach education principles, especially in high-stakes environments.
Beneficial to have:
Undergraduate/postgraduate degree in sports science or related area.
Hands-on experience coaching at the elite level or with high-performance teams/players.
Expertise in sports psychology, especially in working with elite coaches to help them manage the psychological demands of their role and improve their leadership and player management skills.
Strong project management skills to design, deliver, and oversee long term coach development programmes.
Ability to drive innovation by integrating new research, technology, and methods into coaching development programs.
Ability to deliver presentations, workshops, and seminars at conferences or within the organisation, sharing insights on elite coaching practices and trends.
Ability to work effectively with coaches and players from diverse cultural backgrounds, understanding the nuances and challenges of coaching in international or multicultural environments.
Strong ability to analyse data and produce reports on coaching development programs, outcomes, and areas for improvement.
