Full Job Description

We are on the lookout for a passionate and skilled technician to support the delivery of the college's construction curriculum. If you thrive from working as part of a team and have an eye for detail, this may be the perfect role for you. We offer four main trades and have bespoke workshops for each, Bricklaying, Carpentry, Plumbing, and Electrical.

Why you'll love this role:

This is a key position within the department acting as the link between teachers, learners, facilities, health and safety and support staff. The role is based at our Skills Academy for Construction on Team Valley where, as part of our construction team, you'll be immersed in practical demonstrations, live projects, employer engagement and skills assessments.

You'll be at the heart of the department, liaising closely with teachers to manage resources, keeping practical spaces clean and safe. You will offer excellent support to staff and learners ensuring workshop sessions are prepared in advance to provide a quality-learning experience.

A pro-active, inspiring and caring individual who can motivate and encourage students to make excellent progress towards their academic and career ambitions.

You'll need a strong industry background and work ethic and a passion for developing our future workforce. You will be able to conduct and log routine maintenance checks on equipment and ensure the adequate and timely supply of materials to designated classes.

You will be dedicated, flexible and enthusiastic with excellent communication and organisational skills and should be able to demonstrate the following skills:

Good housekeeping practices
Good awareness of Health & Safety
Procurement and preparation of materials
Maintenance of equipment
Experience in operating and maintaining workshop machinery

Proud member of the Disability Confident employer scheme

About Disability Confident
