Full Job Description

So, join us as a Trainee Development Assessor, and find your superpower., National Grid is hiring a Trainee Development Assessor. This position can be located in either Eakring, Tipton, or Taunton. You will be committed to the development and performance of National Grid learners by planning and delivering progress reviews to ensure learners are progressing and performing to required standards. This role will work collaboratively with the Development Programmes and wider HR Teams and business coordinators to ensure learners have the support in place. The role will sit within the Development Programmes team, reporting to the Apprenticeships Manager As you will be working with employees aged between 16 and 18, we will require a DBS check to be undertaken by the successful applicant at the Enhanced level.What You'll Do

  • Plan and Coordinate: Take charge of planning, coordinating, and delivering apprentice progress reviews, ensuring effective ongoing assessment and support for each learner's Portfolio of Evidence.
  • Maintain Documentation: Keep accurate, confidential, and up-to-date records on all learner reviews to track progress and outcomes.
  • Provide Support: Offer confidential support to all learners, being aware of the escalation process for any risks or issues, and apply this knowledge when necessary.
  • Manage Caseload: Carry a caseload and work independently, collaborating with various stakeholders to plan and coordinate activities effectively.
  • Communicate Effectively: Utilise your strong communication and interpersonal skills to deliver engaging apprentice review briefings to National Grid apprentices.
  • Data Management: Provide learner review data to stakeholders within agreed timelines to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Team Support: Assist the wider team by taking minutes at various meetings and monitoring team communication channels.
  • Quality Improvement: Attend and contribute to learner quality improvement group meetings to enhance the apprenticeship experience.
  • End Point Assessment Support: Support the end point assessment process for apprentices, including conducting gateway meetings and participating in final decision panels.

  • Team Player: You work well as part of a team and take a flexible, professional approach to your responsibilities.
  • Experience with Young People: You have experience working with students or young people, ideally in a mentoring or coaching capacity.
  • Desirable Knowledge: Familiarity with the OFSTED Education Inspection Framework and experience in assessing, mentoring, or coaching apprentices is a plus.
  • Presentation Skills: You have experience designing and delivering presentations and training to learners.
  • Safeguarding Commitment: You are committed to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people in line with National Grid policies and the Keeping Children Safe in Education Government guidelines.

    Competitive Salary: circa £34,000 - £38,000 per annum (dependent on location, capability, and experience).
