Full Job Description

Job Details:

Salary Range: £35,235 - £37,035 per annum

Work Location: Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service HQ, Eastleigh

Hours per week: 37

Contract Type: Temporary until 31 May 2026

Closing Date: 7 July 2025

Interview Date: 14 and 15 July 2025

Join us at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS) and help shape the future of our workforce.

We're looking for a proactive, people focused Recruitment & RMT Adviser to support our team during a key phase of organisational transformation, whilst covering for the temporary transfer of the post holder. You will also play a key role in delivering the Leadership Pathways Development process for aspiring supervisory or middle managers.

This is a fantastic opportunity to use your recruitment and workforce planning experience to support managers and leaders across the service - helping to bring the right people into the right roles, at the right time.

What you'll be doing:
-Advising managers and teams on recruitment, promotions, and workforce planning
-Supporting key talent and leadership development pipelines
-Coordinating promotions, transfers and sharing updates with our shared services partner (for payroll, IT systems, etc.)
-Monitoring and ensuring compliance with the completion of essential Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks
-Helping embed our service values in everything we do
-The team primarily support operational colleagues at our sites around the region, so you'll need to be comfortable travelling throughout Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, with occasional evening work required

What we're looking for:

You'll be someone who thrives in a fast-paced, people-first environment and brings:

-Experience in recruitment, HR or workforce planning
-Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
-A detail-focused approach - especially when working to deadlines
-Confidence using Microsoft packages, including a good level of competence in Excel (SAP knowledge is a bonus)
-Outstanding interpersonal skills and experience building trust and strong relationships with a range of stakeholders
-A curious, can-do attitude and a genuine passion for helping others grow

Fire and Rescue Service experience isn't essential - but if you've worked in a uniformed, operational or public service environment, we'd love to hear about it.

What we offer:
-A dynamic, inclusive and high-performing team culture
-Hybrid and flexible working opportunities, subject to work requirements
-A chance to support meaningful work that impacts communities
-Opportunities for personal and professional development

If you're looking for a role where you can make a real impact, grow your skills, and support a service that truly matters - we'd love to hear from you.
