We're looking for a Libraries and Heritage Engagement Officer - 22 hours, Interested?

The team…

We require a Libraries and Heritage Engagement Officer to join Gateshead Libraries and Heritage Service. The post will be based in our Children and Young Peoples team. This team delivers a creative programme of activities to children of all ages.

The team have a targeted approach and prioritise work in areas of need, to support the council's Thrive agenda. Delivery is in libraries and from a number of community venues including family hubs, primary and secondary schools, community centres and parks!

Our free, quality books for children and young people improve literacy, and speech and language development. The team promote a love of reading and school readiness with young children and deliver programmes such as Bookstart and the Summer Reading Challenge. They work with young people to support mental health, developing personal resilience and confidence? by facilitating them to take lead in the running of their groups and developing funding applications ?

About the role….

You will develop and deliver promotional library events and activities as part of the team and with new and existing partners. You will ensure accurate information is gathered for suitable evaluation.

You will have the ability to communicate effectively with customers enquiries by phone, email and in person and provide information and support to residents.

You will supervise employees and work as part of a team to deliver an effective day to day service. You will have knowledge of books and reading, and experience of public libraries or a similar environment. You will engage with customers of all ages to promote reading and borrowing of books.

You will have competent IT skills, including use of the internet, email and MS office and you will provide assistance to users of the public IT facilities.

You will have English and Maths GCSE at Grade 4 or Grade C or above.

Some evening working will be required.

You'll be paid a competitive salary £28,624 to £31,067 pro rata
