Full Job Description
Ensure the efficient day-to-day running of the physical archives and electronic record systems Maintain the archives catalogue in ArchiveSearch Appraise, organise and catalogue existing uncatalogued items and incoming material Manage the budget for conservation, equipment and other purposes, in consultation with the Fellow Archivist Oversee administrative archives support from the Governance, Risk & Compliance Assistant from time to time Ensure that an appropriate records management workflow is in place in College Maintain and advise on the College's retention schedule and information asset register Work closely with colleagues across the College to ensure that items are transferred when appropriate to the semi-current records store and to the archive, providing training/guidance where necessary What we need
St Edmund's College is seeking a detail-oriented and forward-thinking Archivist and Records Manager to join our Bursary department. This is an exciting opportunity to help preserve the history of the College while playing a key role in its information governance and records management., The ideal candidate will be organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage their time effectively. Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach are essential, along with a genuine interest in history and a proactive attitude toward improving and promoting the College's Archives. The successful candidate must have: Essential: Postgraduate qualification in Archives and Records Management Experience managing and cataloguing archival material Knowledge of modern records management practices Excellent IT skills Strong understanding of data protection and copyright laws in archival contexts Desirable: Experience with ArchiveSpace or ArchiveSearch Experience handling born-digital records Basic conservation skills If you feel that you fit most but not all of the above criteria, we would still love to hear from you.
