Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Gardens, Libraries and Museums (GLAM) divisional office in the new role of Deputy Registrar. This role is fixed-term for two years. As a core member of its senior leadership team, you will support the Head of GLAM and the Registrar and Chief Operating Officer to develop and deliver GLAM's strategic ambitions and key areas of planning and project work. In consultation with the GLAM institutions, you'll also help to drive and sustain excellence across GLAM's professional services. Reporting to the Registrar, your portfolio will include responsibility for professional service delivery at divisional level, in liaison with the GLAM Registrar and with the individual GLAM institutions; divisional planning; specific strategy areas including estates; and leadership of agreed strategic projects and business change activities. The cross-cutting nature of your responsibilities means you will be well-placed to support the Registrar across the span of GLAM activity when required. You will need to develop excellent links with, and understanding of, the six institutions which constitute GLAM: the Ashmolean Museum, the Bodleian Libraries, the History of Science Museum, the Museum of Natural History, the Oxford Botanic Garden and Arboretum, and the Pitt Rivers Museum. You will forge effective working relationships with the University's central administration; colleagues in other divisional offices; and, in relation to capital projects work, external professional advisors. You will act as a key bridging point, representing GLAM on University bodies and working groups as required, and briefing senior staff in GLAM on University initiatives and their implications for the division. This is a full-time role but working arrangements of at least 0.8 FTE (30 hours per week) may be considered.
You will demonstrate strong analytical ability and proven management skills, with experience of contributing to strategic planning and managing change initiatives. You will enjoy working across a wide portfolio in a fast-moving environment, and the opportunity to work with a wide range of colleagues.
As an employer, we genuinely care about our employees' well-being, and this is reflected in the range of benefits that we offer including:
- An excellent contributory pension scheme
- 38 days of annual leave
- A comprehensive range of childcare services
- Family leave schemes
- Cycle loan scheme
- Discounted bus travel and Season Ticket travel loans
