Do you have a passion for enabling young people to find their voice, ease their eco-anxiety and make a difference for nature and the climate? Sitting within the Nature-Based Solutions Team, the Youth Engagement Officer will play a key role in Gwent Wildlife Trust's successful delivery of the pan-Wales Stand for Nature Wales Project. Alongside the Senior Youth Engagement Officer and project volunteers, the role will continue to upskill and empower young people to take action for the climate and nature in their local communities, promoting carbon sequestration, creating spaces for nature and giving young people a voice in local decision making. You will have responsibility for facilitating our well-established youth-led action group, Wildlife Warriors, who meet fortnightly on a Tuesday evening in Magor, as well as working with schools, communities and alternative education providers to implement GWT's wider youth engagement programme and enable more people to undertake meaningful action for nature. We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly organised and approachable person with a passion for empowering young people to find their voice. To be successful in this role, you will enjoy engaging with and facilitating the development of young people from a range of backgrounds in the outdoors, and will be an efficient record keeper and keen team player. A passion for and a knowledge of the nature and climate emergencies, and how people can take action, would be very advantageous., Interviews are scheduled for Thursday 21^st August 2025. Interviews will be conducted in English however please discuss with us, should you be invited, if you would like to be interviewed in Welsh. The post holder is not expected to be a fluent Welsh speaker but our recruitment process is as bilingual as possible.
