Full Job Description
Make Moments Matter - Become a Ceremonies Officer with East Riding of Yorkshire Council Are you someone who thrives on connecting with people and making a meaningful difference during life's most significant milestones? Do you have a calm, reassuring presence and a passion for delivering exceptional service? If so, we invite you to join our dedicated team as a Part-Time Ceremonies Officer. At East Riding of Yorkshire Council's Registration Service, we do more than just officiate weddings and civil partnerships-we help support families recently bereaved, and those who have just embarked on parenthood. This is your chance to be part of a team that guides individuals and families during some of the most sensitive, emotional, and joyful moments of their lives. What Makes This Role Special?
- A Role with Heart and Purpose: You'll play a key part in delivering civil marriage, civil partnership, and celebratory ceremonies-ensuring each one is personal, legal, and memorable.
- A Dynamic Work Environment: No two days are the same. From working at our welcoming reception desk answering general queries and booking appointments, to assisting with historical archive requests, your days will be filled with variety and purpose.
- Iconic Venues, Beautiful Settings: Step outside the office and into some of East Riding's most stunning licensed venues for ceremonies -over 45 in total-including stately homes, vineyards, barns, and the beautifully refurbished Old Library in Beverley.
- Flexible and Fulfilling: With part-time hours, which include every other Saturday ceremonies at time and a half, this role fits around your life-whether you're starting a new chapter or balancing another career.
Empathetic and Professional: Able to support people with sensitivity and care, especially during emotional or high-stakes moments. - Detail-Oriented and Responsible: You'll ensure the legal accuracy of ceremonies, produce official certificates, and provide guidance on registration matters.
- Tech-Savvy and Observant: Comfortable using IT systems and alert to safeguarding concerns, including identifying and reporting potential forced or sham marriages.
