Full Job Description

A 16 bedded, female ward caring for patients within a blended secure environment. Which is part of our secure and forensic services. We specialise in looking after females who are predominantly under part 3 of the mental health act and who are involved within the criminal justice pathway in some form. Supporting service users between the ages of 18 - 65, who have mixed presentations of thought, mood and personality disorders. If you are passionate about patient care and involvement, as well as looking for your next step into leadership and management that will also equip you with personal development opportunities, working within a strong, supportive, and established team, then this role is for you! You will be required to be be a qualified nurse and work within a multi-disciplinary team of nursing and MDT staff to always ensure clinical excellence and outstanding care delivery. You will lead by example and inspire those around you to provide exceptional care, operational and clinical excellence on the Ward. As part of the management team, you will work with colleagues and senior leaders to lead your team and support our CQC requirements. You will have the opportunity to engage in Quality Improvement initiatives and contribute to the strategic development of our service., To be responsible for the management and leadership of a team of health professionals providing care over a 24-hour period. To provide effective leadership and management to staff which promotes high performance standards both individually and as a team. Expected to lead the ward team in providing high quality, compassionate nursing care and will be able to demonstrate this through compliance with performance outcomes. Expected to be a positive and strong leader who will set a clear and compelling vision for the team, you will be a visible presence who influences and supports consistently great teamwork and a positive culture. To lead by example and motivate the team to provide exceptional levels of care to all our patients. As an enthusiastic and positive change agent, dedication, professionalism, and communication skills you will inspire others to also go the extra mile and display high levels of performance in even the most challenging situations. As the Ward Manager on Whitlingham ward, you will be fully supported by a Matron as well as the care group leadership which includes the Associate director of nursing for secure and forensic services. The post holder will be expected to engage in on-going professional development and appraisal, engagement in Quality Improvement initiatives and contribution to the strategic development of the service.
Whitlingham Ward is situated on the Hellesdon Hospital site, is a purpose-built Ward that provides services women under part 3 of the mental health act. The ward has an MDT that includes nursing team, OT, social workers, psychiatrists, physiotherapists and physical health nurses.
