Full Job Description

Here at the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) we are looking to recruit a National Business Unit Manager. You will lead a team of AO Business Unit Officers, within the Survey & Inspection (S&I) National Business Unit. You will also support the Business Unit Lead, S&I Business Partner and S&I Assistant Directors in reporting and decision making.
We will look to you to provide financial, management and administrative support across the Survey & Inspection (S&I) areas of MCA. Primary responsibility is our customer's accounts that are managed through our own online system and Microsoft SharePoint.
You will work closely with senior managers to ensure that business support and financial resources are aligned with Survey and Inspection priorities.
As a National Business Unit Manager you will be responsible for ensuring completion of your team's individual quarterly performance reviews (PMRs), identifying training and development needs and the setting of challenging and relevant objectives.
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
+ Responsible for managing the provision of administrative business support within the Business Unit and proactively managing the workflow by the monitoring, analysing and reporting of progress or backlogs of work, employing a corporate and risk management approach, provide regular high level update reports for the BU Lead and BP.
+ Work closely with the BU Lead and BP to ensure that consistent business support is aligned with Survey and Inspection priorities and to develop working relationships and processes to improve the efficiency of the Division. Report to the BU Lead and BP any identified risks within the Business Unit as soon as immediately practicable.
+ Undertaking quality assurance activities for the Business Unit in respect of processes and activities, including Finance records
+ Prepare reports for consideration by the BU Lead, BP and Assistant Director, to include National/Local Activity monitoring
+ Assist with the training and familiarisation for new staff.
+ Manage the provision of secretariat support for internal and external meetings.
+ Assist the BU Lead and BP in promoting and leading on Change Management within the Business Unit.

MCA supports flexible working and operates a hybrid working model between home and office for this role, giving you greater flexibility over where and when you work.
The expectation is that you will spend a minimum 60% of your working time based at your principal workplace or out on official business. Details of the arrangement will be discussed further with your line manager.
There may be a requirement for occasional travel on official duty within the UK, which may involve overnight stays. Notice will be given prior to travel.
Please take note that the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) are currently unable to offer Skilled Worker Sponsorship.
This post is currently based in Beverley, however the S & I Business Unit is due to move offices next year within the local area. Further details can be provided at interview.
