Full Job Description
The James Paget Hospital Maternity services is a hard working and progressive team. The post holder will work closely with the Maternity Quality and Governance Matron and team to ensure full implementation of risk management and effective practice for safe service delivery and maintaining clinical quality standards in maternity. The post holder has an important role within the maternity service of coordinating the interface between the women and families that use the maternity service and the Senior Maternity Management Team. This role is to provide maternity cover.Main duties of the job The post holder will work with the Maternity Quality and Governance Matron and the Senior Maternity Management Team to:
- Work with the multidisciplinary team to ensure a quality service that is responsive to the needs of service users
- Ensure that the Maternity Risk Management Strategy is effectively conveyed to all staff and is translated into operational practice.
- Undertake clinical incidents (including serious incidents), write up reports of such investigations, make recommendations and ensure action plans are implemented.
- Be involved in reviewing previously reported incidents and evaluate their action plans to determine whether or not recommendations have been implemented.
- To develop appropriate action plans to minimise risks, including identifying resource implications, changes in clinical practice and administrative procedures required.
- Assist the Quality and Governance Matron and Maternity Project Manager in developing and delivering a planned programme of work to maintain CNST within Maternity.
- Effectively utilise the Trust's information management systems and technology.
- Assist in the maintenance of the Maternity Risk register - this involves working with clinical staff to identify risks and carry out risk assessments.
A key component of this role is the facilitating, monitoring, project management and operational support related management of change to the quality and improvement agenda and the ongoing evaluation of the subsequent impact on clinical practice. Promote and support innovation in practice and support professional staff to contribute to planning, delivery and evaluation of education and training opportunities within the service.
