Yodel is looking for a dynamic Courier Operations Manager who will lead and inspire a team to enhance performance across our final mile operation. In this role, you will ensure a first-class customer experience through effective management of self-employed resources. This includes resource planning, maintaining operational and regulatory compliance, and overseeing performance management while adhering to established legal and health and safety standards.What you'll be doing Our service centres process millions of parcels weekly, bustling with activity essential to our business. Every role, from loading and scanning to driving, is crucial. As the Courier Operations Manager, your team will look to you for inspiration, support, guidance and during busy times, hands on assistance as well. Leading a dynamic team of Team Managers, Administrators, Self-employed resource is a challenging yet rewarding task. Your leadership will significantly influence the efficient operation, planning, and overall performance of our service centres. Duties will include but not limited to: Courier Management

  • Drive daily planning and execution of courier resource management.
  • Build a stable network of couriers through effective interviewing, selection, and onboarding processes.
  • Minimise business risk by ensuring all areas are adequately resourced.
  • Communication & Engagement
  • Maintain high levels of communication with self-employed delivery drivers.
  • Conduct regular reviews and host quarterly forums to discuss updates and performance.
  • Act as a company ambassador to create a positive candidate experience.
  • Performance & Reporting
  • Identify and resolve underperformance issues, escalating as necessary.
  • Ensure tours are appropriately constructed and resourced within budget.
  • Monitor and control budgets related to self-employed resources and ensure profitable operations.
  • Onboarding & Training
  • Ensure all new starters complete a comprehensive induction program with regular reviews.
  • Continuously assess the effectiveness of the onboarding process.
  • Stakeholder Relationships
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the SVC Manager and central resourcing team.
  • Conduct base checks with facilities management to maintain high standards.
