If you're looking for a career where you can make a real impression, join HSBC and discover how valued you'll be. HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

The UK Channels business has embarked on a journey to enable HSBC UK to become the UK's most loved bank. The exciting and emerging Access to Banking & Cash channel plays a key role in delivering against this ambition, and will change the way the nation banks through frictionless, convenient journeys supporting our customers' banking needs when and where they need us.

We are currently seeking someone to join our team in the role of: Head of HSBC Local. The role holder will be a critical member of the Access to Banking & Cash leadership structure, working closely with the Head of Access to Banking & Cash to deliver against the wider strategic ambitions of the business, whilst also being responsible for leading the delivery of the HSBC Local strategy including journey management, and cross-functional partnerships. Being the channel that goes to our customers to support their needs, rather than waiting for them to come to us.

The successful individual will be joining the business at a unique stage of growth and innovation, building the foundations for what it means to bank in the UK by 2035. As an HSBC employee in the UK, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role you will:

  • Lead end-to-end journey management for HSBC Local, owning outcomes, risk and cost management, and everything in-between.
  • Be the high-profile face of the HSBC Local proposition, working in collaboration with the HSBC Channels' regional leadership teams to deliver against our strategic ambitions, identifying and executing growth opportunities through an agile approach including the delivery of playbooks for events.
  • Lead the proposition development for HSBC Local, building the capability and features of HSBC Local across multiple pillars, focused on bringing HSBC to our customers via differentiated delivery approaches, locations and formats. Aligned to the commercial goal of growing our customer base, particularly our Premier customers and identifying Wealth referral opportunities.
  • Responsible for agreeing collateral / budget / implementation roadmap and activation of HSBC Local proposition across the pillars, including the delivery of exceptional events to the professional and premium standard expected of HSBC UK.
  • Drive the commercial growth of HSBC Local, through partnerships with International Desk, Premier Teams, Wealth Management, EBS, Business Banking, Product, Marketing and Partnerships - developing strategic campaigns that deliver returns and will unlock opportunity, efficiencies, new revenue streams, commercial growth, and innovation.
  • Work with brand partnerships team to ensure coordinated runway of events over the year in collaboration with headline partnership events such as the Open, HSBC Championships at Queens, Goodwood.
  • Regularly review performance data to ensure the HSBC Local proposition is meeting the set objectives, including good customer outcomes, customer experience (NPS), Risk, and Growth measures. Implement interventions and actions to close gaps identified.
  • Develop a market leading business development team to build a HSBC Local runway quarter-on-quarter, driving a high-performing, entrepreneurial mindset for HSBC Local.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Experience in delivering exceptional, high-end events to Mass Affluent customers with a strong understanding of the key trends and areas of partnerships which influence the way we interact and engage with our customers, internal and external stakeholders and audiences.
  • A broad-based background at senior leadership level, with a proven track record of delivering strategy which delivers good customer outcomes and improves business effectiveness in sustainable ways.
  • Business Development: Lead with an entrepreneurial spirit, thinking like a customer and acting like a business owner to challenge the status quo, break down barriers, and deliver sustainable growth.
  • Demonstrate a Growth Mindset: commercially driven with a strong understanding of what it means to optimise customer demand, develop cost-efficient channels, create more value for less, and develop compelling Return on Investment.
  • Strong experience analysing customer insight, acting at pace, delivering through and influencing others, strong stakeholder management and breaking down barriers to lead the market and find better ways to operate.

This is a Hybrid role, with 60% of your time being spent in Birmingham, Chester or Leeds. National travel will be required in line with business requirements.

Opening up a world of opportunity. Being open to different points of view is important for our business and the communities we serve. At HSBC, we're dedicated to creating diverse and inclusive workplaces - no matter their gender, ethnicity, disability, religion, sexual orientation, or age. We are committed to removing barriers and ensuring careers at HSBC are inclusive and accessible for everyone to be at their best. We take pride in being a Disability Confident Leader and will offer an interview to people with disabilities, long term conditions or neurodivergent candidates who meet the minimum criteria for the role.
