Find out more about what it's like working at Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency - Department for Transport Careers The purpose of this role is to lead and support the drafting, implementation and review of legislation. The post holder will be required to provide advice to stakeholders, Department for Transport (DfT) officials and lawyers of which this will include the interpretation of legislation that underpins DVSA's responsibilities. The post holder will actively manage relationships within the DfT family and across Government to ensure strategic alignment of objectives to maximise benefits for all. There will be line management responsibilities as part of this role and great line management is important to us as an organisation, and we will equip and support line managers to develop the skills they need. We aim to empower line managers to create teams where people can flourish and deliver excellent outcomes for the public. This is a varied and positively challenging role, that will require the successful post holder to be adaptable and flexible, adjusting priorities to ensure that strategic direction is maintained. Your responsibilities will include, but aren't limited to:
- Working with the Service Managers and Product Managers, actively liaise with DVSA Enforcement.
- Liaising with DfT to ensure all relevant regulatory clearance processes are completed and cleared as required.
- Working with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure that any regulatory changes are implemented efficiently and effectively. This will include managing expectations, providing advice and guidance to senior stakeholders and service managers.
- Review DVSA change proposals to evaluate the impact of any proposed changes on policy, legislation, enforcement and fees.
- Drafting requests for legal advice making best use of time and resource of lawyers.
