Full Job Description
This role will be based in the Safe & Strong Communities service area, working alongside all areas of the wider team and focussing on supporting the Social Enterprise Manager in the development of the social enterprise sector in Westmorland & Furness to support delivery of the Council Plan.
The role will also support the work of the Cumbria Social Enterprise Partnership to help identify opportunities where entrepreneurial solutions may be used to solve local community issues and create services or amenities to support local people.
This role requires a sound understanding of what social enterprises are, their place in society and the economy and how they support the delivery of the Council Plan and the Council's ambitions and aspirations for its residents and communities.
The role will also be supportive of the Council's Community Power initiative.
We are looking for people with a good working knowledge of social enterprise and the wider voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sectors (VCFSE) nationally and especially in Westmorland & Furness. Your work will be helping to support local people to identify issues at a community level and find new, enterprising solutions to those issues.
Educated to degree level (or equivalent relevant knowledge and experience) and who has experience of working in partnership with other organisations and community groups in the local VCFSE sector.
The successful candidates will have experience of coordination, planning and management of projects and of working within a political framework, especially in local government.
