Full Job Description
As an Electrical Fitter, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. With your technical skills and safe working attitude, you'll work on some of the most exciting engineering projects this country has to offer. Day-to-day, you'll work within the Temporary Electrical Supplies section covering the Submarine business unit at Devonport Dockyard. This will see you working on submarines supporting delivery of these complex engineering projects.
- Working to engineering drawings and technical specifications, you'll install new temporary supply equipment and also carry out system and equipment functional tests and surveys.
- Read engineering drawings, to interpret work instructions.
- Work on a variety of electrical supply equipment such as temporary lights and power supplies, as well as installing and monitoring pre heat pads for welding operations.
- Full training for the installation, maintenance, and monitoring of pre heating equipment will be given. This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard. There is an opportunity for Optimised Working Patterns (OWP) within this role. OWP is a temporary variation to your standard terms and condition that commits you to support 7-day working arrangements. For full details of the patterns, pay and durations, this can be found in the OWP 1 and OWP 2 agreements (available from hiring manager). Primarily, it involves 4-week shift cycles consisting of either day/back shift or day/night shift. An example of the remuneration for these shifts is as follows: Gross salary: £35,530
- Demonstratable experience of working within high performing engineering teams focused on delivering engineering projects.
- Demonstrable experience of working on the installation, removal and overhaul of marine electrical equipment such as temporary lighting and power supplies.
- Experience of working within marine electrical engineering environment - Desirable
- Time served apprentice within the field of marine electrical engineering / naval engineering environment - Desirable.
- We would welcome qualified and experienced Electrical Engineers from outside the marine industry who could potentially transfer those skills across to our marine biased type of work. Qualifications for the Electrical Fitter
- Indentured Apprenticeship in an Electrical discipline
- Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship in an Electrical discipline
- Level 3 Electrical Engineering qualification Security Clearance The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
