Full Job Description
Lockheed Martin (UK) Ampthill is a rapidly changing, dynamic part of the Lockheed Martin Corporation with both domestic and international customers. It consists of business areas focusing on Platform Integration, Ground Based Air Defence, Special Projects and Weapons, which provide a variety of products and services to the Ministry of Defence and other customers. We are looking for talented individuals to join the company, in return we offer an exciting and challenging career path and excellent work/life balance with a 4 day week (Mon-Thurs) and flexible working arrangements., A talented individual skilled as a Materials Engineer is required to join the Special Projects team at Lockheed Martin, Ampthill on an initial contract basis. The job will involve a range of materials research activities. We are in need of someone to do hands on materials R&D and possibly some some hands-on testing.
- Materials research or Materials science and engineering background (qualifications and work experience) in composite materials.
- Composites experience in carbon fibre composites processing and testing.
- Additive manufacturing in Aluminium / Stainless Steel
- Understanding of composite materials processing / metallic additive manufacturing
- Experience in composite methods.
- Understanding of composite materials applied to space and aerospace applications.
- Writing technical documents. Desired Skills:
- Background in high temperature materials / Hypersonics materials would be a welcome addition.
- Experience of Lab based materials development and testing.
- Understanding of phenolic resin processing, properties and chemistry
- Experience of working withing an ISO 9001 Quality system.
- Presentation skills.
