Full Job Description

Do you thrive in high-pressure situations? Want to play a key role in helping your community prepare for and respond to emergencies? Plymouth City Council is looking for a committed and capable Civil Protection Officer to join our professional and dynamic Civil Protection Service in a job share capacity (18.5hrs per week). What you'll do As a Civil Protection Officer, you will: Develop, test, and support the implementation of contingency plans Work across partner agencies to coordinate responses to incidents Deliver training and advice to staff, elected members, businesses, and voluntary groups Actively contribute to Local Resilience Forum meetings Provide public information and support during emergencies

We're looking for someone with: A diploma (or equivalent experience) in emergency management or a related field Proven experience in multi-agency planning and emergency response Strong understanding of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and relevant regulations Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills Confidence to make critical decisions under pressure A full UK Driving Licence The ability to undertake 'on-call' duties out of hours without restriction Membership in a relevant emergency planning organisation and experience with non-statutory plans and central government resilience frameworks
