Full Job Description
Transport Planning is a profession that deals with the planning, development, design and management of major transport projects in a wide variety of disciplines covering both the physical and natural environment. As a Transport Planner, you will improve and protect the environment in which we live, and it is a career where you can really make a difference. A degree Apprenticeship in Transport Planning with Durham County Council gives you the opportunity to work across the Transport Service Area of Durham County Council within Transport and Infrastructure Projects. You will train towards a Degree in Transport Planning. The structured training programme will enable you to gain experience, further education and broad base skills within Transport Planning. This role involves supporting project managers and technical officers in assessing the requirement for transport interventions including new and/or improved roads and associated infrastructure linking people to jobs, education and opportunity. You will work alongside Technicians, Engineers and Project Managers reviewing technical drawings, using computer software to produce drawings, programmes, briefing scopes and contracts to specified standards. Are you interested in understanding and developing the current and future transport network across County Durham? Are you passionate about shaping the world around you? Then a degree Apprenticeship in Transport Planning could be for you!, You must have or expect to achieve x3 A Levels at Grade C or above. You must already hold a Level 2 qualification covering English, Maths and IT e.g. GCSE's Grade 4/C or above including functional skills. You should have good communication skills, and the ability to problem solve and make decisions.
