Full Job Description
Are you a security professional with a passion for cultural heritage and public engagement? Would you like to play a vital role in protecting one of the world's most prestigious museum networks? The University of Oxford's Gardens, Libraries and Museums (GLAM) division is seeking a proactive and experienced Security Support Officer to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to support and strengthen the security capabilities of Oxford's world-renowned cultural institutions. You will be based in the security department of the Ashmolean Museum; however, this is a hands-on role, involving regular departmental visits and interaction with staff at all levels., Working closely with the Head of Safety and Security, you'll help evaluate, test, and enhance security procedures across GLAM departments. Your work will include:
- Conducting physical, technical and operational security audits
- Delivering training sessions on security awareness topics such as suspicious packages and hostile reconnaissance
- Organising and leading scenario-based security testing
- Supporting the development of risk assessments and emergency response planning
We're seeking someone with: - Proven experience in a security heritage environment
- Strong understanding of security audits and threat-based assessments
- Excellent communication, presentation and training delivery skills
- Ability to write concise, actionable reports
- Confidence, initiative and a collaborative approach
This is a part-time, fixed-term post for 12 months. Due to the nature of the role, a satisfactory result of a standard DBS check will be required for the successful candidate., Why Oxford?
