  • Handle and distribute exhibits, documents, and other materials required during hearings.
  • Maintain the decorum of the court and ensure proceedings run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Communicate sensitively and clearly with all court participants, particularly bereaved families and witnesses., Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Coroner and the Coroner's Officers in the management of inquests and investigations.

  • Prepare and issue legal documents such as inquest paperwork, witness summonses, and correspondence to interested parties.
  • Arrange inquest hearings, book court venues, and coordinate schedules for witnesses, jurors, and legal representatives.
  • Respond to enquiries from bereaved families and members of the public with empathy, professionalism, and clear information., Applicants should be aware that it is not always possible to carry out adequate vetting checks on persons who have not been resident within the UK for the last five years. Therefore, where this applies, applicants may be refused because it was not possible to vet them to the appropriate standard.

  • The ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with a wide range of people, including those who are bereaved or distressed.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands and maintain attention to detail.
  • Confidence using IT systems and managing case records in line with data protection and confidentiality requirements.
  • A respectful understanding of the sensitive and sometimes distressing nature of inquest work.
  • Additional Information: Full training will be provided for both roles. You may be required to work flexibly to accommodate court sittings and administrative deadlines, and occasional travel to other venues within the jurisdiction may be necessary.
